Late Summer colour & last supper for insects? – Asters

Asters come into bloom around about now and offer not only a much needed splash of colour to a garden that can be starting to look a little tired after the summer, but also offer a much needed source of food for insects when the weather permits them on to the wing.

Heres a few images of what asters we have growing & blooming in the garden at the moment.

  1. Thank you! I noticed a new flower in our garden yesterday and you have just identified it for me. We moved in to our new house a couple of months ago and it’s been really good watching things just ‘pop up’ but hard work identifying it all.

    1. 🙂 Sounds like you are doing the right thing though, let the garden have a season of growth and try to ID as many of the plants as you can. That way you know whats there and how best to manage the garden
